This pump is the world's first pump to be used in mass-produced water-cooled workstations and is ideal for water cooling processors and electronic components. Due to its size and performance, it can also be used in a wide range of applications.
This DC pump is an electronically commutated spherical motor pump, with running times of well over 50,000 hours at 12 volts. The only moving part on a spherical motor pump is a spherically shaped rotor/impeller unit, which rests on an ultra-hard, wear-resistant ceramic bearing ball.
There is no conventional shaft with shaft bearings and shaft seals. The spherical bearing of the rotor/impeller unit on the ceramic bearing ball offers a number of advantages: The development of bearing play - and thus an increase in noise - is fundamentally impossible. The pump therefore remains quiet over the entire running time. The bearing is self-adjusting. It is lubricated directly by the pumped medium (wet rotor pump). Maintenance is therefore not required. Since the rotor is always held magnetically in the intended position, small dirt particles are not a problem. Blocking the pump is normally not possible. It is possible to start up safely even after a long period of downtime. The permanent magnetic rotor/impeller unit is driven by a magnetic field generated by the surrounding stator.
This is built completely around the rotor. The entire pump is therefore only slightly higher than the stator itself. It therefore fits easily into all commercially available PC, barebone and mini-PC housings. Separate magnetic shielding is normally not necessary. The spherical motor principle enables economical operation with comparatively high performance. The DDC direct current pump can be easily controlled over a wide performance range by varying the voltage. All parts that come into contact with the media are completely corrosion-resistant.
Pump tachometer: With 3-pin Molex connector as pump tachometer output (for mainboards or control units)
Why is there a Swiftech and a Laing version? Are there any differences?
The answer to that is definitely "no". So why are there different versions? Here's the explanation: Laing produces all of its pumps in Hungary. One for the overseas market and one for the German or European market. The pumps themselves are therefore completely the same. Some are labelled as Swiftech, as this is the distributor for the US market. The other versions are neutral black. The cheaper Swiftech pumps come with decoupling, but the Laing ones do not. Otherwise, the pump performance, flow rate, etc. are completely identical.
Note: The pump is the latest revision. We recommend using a lubricating water additive (such as AT Protect Plus or Innovatek Protect). Anti-corrosion fluid is not recommended. The Laing pump electronics are not water-compatible. When installing or modifying the pump, please ensure that the electronics do not come into contact with water. When changing the Laing cover, make sure that the O-ring is correctly seated and when filling a Laing pump container, make sure that no water overflows. Laing will not replace any damage caused by damp electronics. Due to the pump's performance, it may only be operated in a circuit with at least 1 cooler. If operated without a load, the pump may burn out.
