Sleeving cables has become common practice in the modding world. The pre-sleeved cables from most power supply manufacturers are not really opaque and often lie quite loosely around the actual cable. This is not everyone's cup of tea. Many modders want a nice, smooth and tight-fitting sleeve, ideally in a color of their choice. To make sleeving easier, Alphacool now offers the Eistools Crimping Kit.

The crimping tools are stored safely in a customized foam insert. And this in turn is stored in a compact and lockable bag. This means that everything can always be neatly put away to keep the workshop tidy. It contains everything you need to sleeve the cables.

To make it easy to remove the cables from the individual connectors, several pin removers are included. These are compatible with all Molex connectors that can be found on a typical PC power supply. 3 different female extractors are included and a male extractor for the PCIe, ATX terminals and the 4 or 8-pin EPS connector. Now the old sleeve can be easily removed from the cable.
The side cutters can be used to easily shorten the cables if required. But side cutters are also an important tool in many other situations that should never be missing.
The next step is to sleeve the cable. The Alphacool Eistools Crimping Kit comes with a special sleeving needle for this purpose. The cable itself can be inserted into the back end of the needle. The sleeving guide needle is then simply pulled through the sleeve together with the cable. This way the cable cannot get caught on the sleeve or even damage it.

If you have shortened the cables or built the cables yourself, you still have to assemble the cables into real connectors at the end. Of course, you need the appropriate Molex plugs and pin sockets for this. To do this, you first have to remove the insulation from the cables using the automatic stripping pliers. You can of course use the high-quality stripping pliers to determine the length and the pressure with which the insulation should be stripped. This is basically child's play and can be done by anyone, even without prior knowledge.
For the penultimate step, you need the crimping pliers. You use them to clamp the cables into the pin sockets and then simply clamp them together with the crimping pliers. The set also includes replacement crimping jaws for a longer service life. To change the crimping jaws, you simply have to remove the two pins on the head of the crimping pliers. You can then simply insert the replacement crimping jaws and reattach them with the pins.
The last step is the easiest. The cables with the now attached pin sockets just need to be plugged into the desired connection terminal. The self-sleeved cable is ready. We recommend the Alphacool Alphacord as a sleeve. This is available in an incredible number of colors and is completely opaque.
